Wilmslow Police Station

Dear Resident,

This letter is to inform you that there was a burglary and attempt burglary on Sutton Road on 19/02/22.

The burglary occurred between the hours of 20:10 – 21:20. The offenders(s) have gained entry through the rear patio door, however, there was no damage so this would suggest that the door may have been unlocked, there was an untidy search and a safe was taken containing valuables and money.

The attempt burglary occurred at 20:54. The home owners were home. Upon hearing a noise and opening the curtains upstairs a male offender was seen holding onto the Juliette Balcony trying to smash a double glazed unit in the patio style doors. The owner disturbed the offender who jumped down and ran off with a second offender.

It appears that looking at the times above both incidents happened between 20:10 & 20:54.

If you believe that you have seen anything or have any CCTV that has captured the offenders please contact PCSO Kerry Hancock via email kerry.hancock@cheshire.police.uk
Most burglaries are carried out by opportunist thieves so reporting suspicious behaviour to us is also very important.
Below are some ideas to prevent this happening to you.

When you go out, always lock the doors and windows.
Put your garden tools away, these provide an easy way to force entry to your house.
Make the house appear occupied, leave on the radio, draw the curtains and leave a light on.
Don't leave spare keys outside or keys in outbuilding/garage doors.
Keep keys away from the letterbox to stop burglars ‘fishing’ for them.
Use timers for lights and radios if you need to be away from home overnight.
Don’t leave your bin out where they can be used as a step to climb a wall, fence or gate.
Don’t leave ladders where they can be used to gain entry to a window.
Have a neighbour check that milk bottles, parcels and post are not left outside or near the letterbox.
Visible burglar alarms, good lighting, and carefully directed and limited security lighting can act as deterrents.
If your car has keyless entry, consider purchasing a faraday bag that blocks the signal preventing thieves from using the signal to get in to your car.
Install bollards on your driveway
Park valuable vehicles elsewhere if away on holiday
