Scam Alert

Alert message sent 19/10/2021 13:43:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hello resident,
please see the below information from Halton Trading Standards.
TV’s sold from the back of vans
Halton Trading Standards wants to make consumers aware that TV’s are being sold from the back of vans at various sites across the Borough.
Unfortunately, a consumer has taken up the opportunity to buy a couple of these TV’s for £220. However, upon arriving home the consumer has unboxed them to find out they were both smashed.
As Christmas time approaches there are likely to be more of these incidents regarding consumer goods such as toys, electronics and power tools.
There is a reasonable chance if you are buying goods out of the back of a van that the goods are either stolen, fake, unsafe or in this case broken.

If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of Halton Trading Standards specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.
