Preventing Scammers

Alert message sent 18/10/2021 14:35:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Please see advice from Banks about preventing fraudsters obtaining your Bank details or you transfering money for someone you think you know.

Here is an example of what might happen, you will get a message on Social media purporting to be a relative who has had to change their mobile phone number due to an accident and will give you a new number for them.
Then they will say they need money urgently and cannot use their mobile bank app as they have a new Sim card
They will then ask for your Bank details or for you to transfer money into an account they will give you .
Sounds very believable but don't do it is a scam, take the enclosed Banks advice to prevent this happening to you.
