Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hello resident,
please see the below information from Halton Trading Standards.
Royal Mail text message scams
Halton Trading Standards wishes to warn consumers about Royal Mail text message scams. A Halton resident received a scam text message this morning.  It is a phishing scam (a scam where a text message, email etc is sent by someone posing to be a legitimate institution or person) with the desire to trick consumers into providing their personal or banking details.
The Royal Mail website (see link) has examples of the type of Royal Mail scams currently circulating - www.royalmail.com/help/scam-examples

If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of Halton Trading Standards specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.
