Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Good Morning,

This week has been road safety week, I just wanted to give you a little update.

I met with the BHS this month to discuss how we can work together on various initiatives and how us having regular contact and sharing information can help you.

We have already started and this week The rural crime team have been out stopping horse riders (if safe to do so) who are out hacking with no high vis clothing on. This is to educate and highlight the dangers of not being easily seen on the roads and also off road. A lot of riders belive they don't need high vis when off road however if an accident was to happen that one piece of hi vis could save you or your horses life by allowing emergency services to find you quicker. We have also given free hi vis to the riders that have not been wearing one. A big thank you to the BHS for providing some extra high vis vests!

If you have any incidents please report them to the BHS as they keep a record of the locations to plan where need our attention next. If you wear cameras these incidents can be reported to the police via our website where the footage can be uploaded.

we have also used social media to promote road safety to drivers whilst approaching and passing horses. If you use social media please search Cheshire Rural Crime Team to follow our page.

I will keep you updated with future plans.

Kind regards

PCSO Smith
