Chester Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival
11 December 2020The Lord Mayor of Chester and the City of Chester Charter Trustees are supporting Chester Cathedral’s annual Charity Christmas Tree Festival.
Chester Civic’s Christmas Tree, along with other entries, will be available for viewing until Sunday, 3 January 2021 at the Cathedral. This year’s festival will also support the Alzheimer’s UK Charity.
Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Mark Williams said: “I am delighted to be able to support this worthwhile annual event. This year has been particularly challenging for so many people because of the coronavirus pandemic and the joy which Christmas can bring is what everyone needs at this time.”
The theme for our civic tree is Young People’s Hopes for 2021. Local school children have been invited to make their own decorations or add their message of hope for 2021 in no more than six words.
Cllr Williams added: “I do hope that you will visit Chester Cathedral between now and Sunday, 3 January 2021 to enjoy the splendour of all the Christmas trees on display.”
Another important part of Chester’s festivities this year will be a ‘Countdown to Christmas’, which will appear every day on Facebook and Twitter until Thursday, 24 December.
Images of Chester will be accompanied by various Christmas wishes. Preparations are underway to host a virtual Christmas Concert which will include carols from local choirs.
