Cheshire West and Chester Council's pop-up COVID-19 testing units offering free Lateral Flow Tests in Hoole, Winsford and Ellesmere Port from 25 October

22 October 2021

Free walk-in Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) are available from Cheshire West and Chester Council’s own mobile pop-up COVID-19 testing units which will be in Hoole and Winsford next week.

As of 25 October, the pop-up testing units, which also offer free kits for people to use at home, will be located at:
•    Bishop Street Car Park, Hoole, Chester, CH2 3BB, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm
•    Cheviot Square Car Park, Cheviot Square, Winsford, CW7 1QS, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.

In addition, home testing kits will be available to pick up from a pop-up unit in Ellesmere Port, although no on-site testing will be available.

The pop-up unit will be at:
•    Public car park near to Iceland Food Warehouse, Mercer Walk, 56-58 The Port Arcades, Ellesmere Port, CH65 0AP, open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

For anyone wishing to do an on-site test in Ellesmere Port, there is a testing centre at Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre, CH65 9DB. This is open from Monday to Friday each week, from 9am to 3pm.

The current approach to testing in the borough is not part of a surge testing programme but is in response to testing where COVID-19 rates are relatively high.

The pop-up testing units will provide a free LFT test to anyone who does not have any COVID-19 symptoms.  This type of test is good at picking up people who have no symptoms but are infected with COVID-19 and so may be unknowingly spreading the disease.

Government recommends that everyone tests for COVID-19 twice a week regardless of whether they have been vaccinated. Free home test kits are readily available at participating local pharmacies or online and are also available to collect at the pop-up testing units.

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should book a PCR test at: http://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.
