Road to reopen at St Oswald's, Malpas

19 August 2021

Temporary repairs to St Oswald's Church wall on Church Street, Malpas, have progressed to schedule and the road alongside is to reopen soon.

Following the collapse of a section of wall in January (after heavy storms) Church Street has remained closed to traffic to enable the Council to commission a design by a structural consultant and to carry out temporary repairs to avoid any further collapse.

Stage one of the repairs are now completed and the road will be reopened to traffic on Friday 27 August using temporary traffic signals.

However, to avoid any disruption either side of the traffic lights it has been necessary to withdraw parking facilities for approximately 30 metres either side of the route.

Councillor Karen Shore, Cheshire West and Chester Council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, said: "We apologise to the residents and businesses for the inconvenience this change to parking will cause, alternative parking is available in the public car park off the High Street.  We appreciate the ongoing support and patience of the local community."
