Join in the celebrations for Great Boughton Library's 50th birthday

25 September 2019

This year it is 50 years since man landed on the moon and it is also the big 5-0 for Great Boughton Library.

The Library has organised a range of events to celebrate this milestone.

During Libraries Week (7 to 12 October) there will be a community exhibition showcasing Great Boughton and the local community through the ages.

There will be a reminiscence morning on Monday 7 October from 10am to 12pm to launch this special exhibition.  Everyone is welcome to come along for coffee and a chat and to meet friends old and new.

During the afternoon there will be some classic board games from the 1960s for both adults and children, including a special Storytime at 2.30pm with 1960s rhymes and stories.

On Thursday 10 October the Library will be hosting a murder mystery afternoon ‘Bannocks and Blood’ from 2pm to 4pm.  Ann Cleeves has written a murder mystery based around a traditional Shetland Sunday Tea.  So join in with tea and cake and see if you can successfully guess who did it.

Tickets (£4) are available from Great Boughton Library and via

Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities and Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said: “Happy birthday Great Boughton Library.  You really do have something for everyone during your celebrations.  I’m delighted our libraries continue to be at the heart of our communities across the borough and can celebrate a milestone like this with local residents.”
