21 June 2019

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Work Zone are hosting a free jobs fair on Wednesday 3 July from 10am to 2pm at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, Civic Way.

Employers, recruitment agents and training providers will be available for jobseekers to chat with to get advice on finding a job or enrolling on a training course.

Over 40 companies have confirmed so far including Brio Leisure, Code Nation, Constant Security, Hitex International, Holiday Inn, Kier Construction and McDonalds with more being added. All of the companies attending will have jobs or apprenticeships on offer on the day.
Cheshire Police will be attending the event to offer guidance to those considering joining the force.

Cheshire College South & West plus a number of local training providers will also be attending to advise on next steps, training and funding options and course enrollments for September.  Training options will be available for school / college leavers and adults over 19.

The Ellesmere Port Work Zone will be open throughout the event to offer skills and employment advice.

Councillor Richard Beacham, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, said: “Last year, nearly 200 people attended the fair looking for work, training or advice and guidance.   The majority told us that being able to meet with employers was the most useful part of the day.   Employers also found the event useful, with many of them being able to receive applications on the day for the vacancies they had brought.

“If you are not in education or employment this is a friendly and supportive event to meet with people who will be able to help.  The employers and education providers can offer important advice for people to get on the path to a successful future in education or employment in west Cheshire.”

People who are thinking about starting their own business will be able to speak to advisers who can tell them how to start and where to get the appropriate advice and support.

If residents have wellbeing or money concerns that may be hindering them then experts will be on hand to offer support from organisations such as Active Cheshire, Carers in Employment, Credit Union, Debt Advice Network, Health Box, Princes Trust, New Leaf, National Careers Service plus others.  Attendees will be able to speak to advisers to explore their employment options and get the support they need to get into work.

There has been a lot happening in Ellesmere Port over the past few years it has seen a range of development projects totalling nearly £1.2bn with a total forecast of £2.8bn. 2,600 jobs have been created opening up opportunities, in addition the investment in new homes is rising with planning consent for 5,550 homes.
