Library services move online during the Christmas period
8 December 2021Most Cheshire West and Chester libraries will close over the Christmas period with services continuing online until Tuesday 4 January 2022, when libraries re-open.
Libraries across the borough will close at 1pm on Friday 24 December, with the exception of Malpas, Wharton and Blacon libraries which will close on Thursday 23 December along with the mobile library.
Storyhouse will close on Christmas Day and New Year's Day and at 9pm on Christmas Eve. It will open from 10am - 9pm on Boxing day. For further details of opening hours at Storyhouse throughout the rest of the festive period visit storyhouse.com
All library loans throughout December have been extended, with return dates from Tuesday 4 January 2022.
Please note that due to building maintenance works, Sandiway library will reopen on Thursday 6 January 2022.
The Council's Leader and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said:
"Don't forget that you can access free e-books, e-audio and digital magazines and newspapers, at any time of the day or night, on the council website. Although the majority of our libraries will be closed across the festive period, a 24-hour telephone line for renewals is available too, by calling 0300 123 7739."

The Cheshire Record Office will close at 4pm on Thursday 23 December and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January 2022, but Cheshire Archives’ online resources are still available at cheshirearchives.org.uk. Information about visiting from 5 January onwards can be found on the Archives website.
