Changes to library opening times during the Christmas period

Cheshire West and Chester libraries will be operating a revised service over the Christmas period:
  • Monday 23 December: All libraries to open as usual 
  • Tuesday 24 December: Chester Library at Storyhouse open until 5pm. All other libraries will close at 1pm with the exception of Frodsham and Tarvin who will be closed all day
  • Wednesday 25 December: Bank holiday – all closed 
  • Thursday 26 December: Chester Library at Storyhouse open 10am to 4pm.All other libraries closed. 
  • Friday 27 December: All libraries to open as usual. Frodsham Library is open 9am to 4pm. 
  • Saturday 28 December: All libraries to open as usual
  • Monday 30 December: All libraries to open as usual. Frodsham Library is open 9am to 4pm.
  • Tuesday 31 December: All libraries routinely open on Tuesdays will open at usual times and close at 1pm. Storyhouse will close at 5pm. Frodsham and Tarvin will be closed all day.
  • Wednesday 1 January: Bank holiday – all closed
  • Thursday 2 January: All libraries to open as usual
Malpas Library, based within a high school, will close at 7pm on 19 December and not re-open until 7 January as the school is closed.  
Hoole Library will close at 1pm on Saturday 21 December and re-open on Saturday 4 January at 10am.  

Also the Mobile Library will not undertake any routes week beginning 23 December through until 2 January.
Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said:  “Some Libraries across the authority will be open across the festive period but don’t forget that you can search, reserve and renew items on-line, at any time of the day or night, on the council website.  You can also find out more about the wide range of free eResources available.  A 24-hour telephone line for renewals is available too, by calling 0300 123 7739.”

In addition the Council’s Customer Services will be available at Ellesmere Port in line with Ellesmere Port Libraries opening hours and with the exception of bank holidays, available as usual at Chester Forum, Northwich Information Centre and Wyvern Hub Winsford from 8.30am to 5pm on 27, 30 and 31 December.
Sandiway Library remains closed while the building is repaired and alternative arrangements are available at neighbouring libraries.  The library is due to reopen in early February 2020.
