Cheshire 'Crimes and Capers' on-line event

4 November 2021

Cheshire Archives and Local Studies along with Cheshire West and Chester Libraries will delve into stories of Cheshire’s criminal past for a virtual event later this month.

The streamed story-telling event at 7pm on 18 November will deliver an online exploration of true crime through time, including tales from Cheshire’s grizzly underbelly.

Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said: “Featuring tales of highwaymen, murder mysteries, alleged witchcraft, and prolific local thieves, this event will be a chance to find out about the criminals, both alleged and proven, who have made Cheshire their home over the years.

“While everyone is welcome, some of these stories may not be suitable for young children though, so please be aware of this if you’ll be watching from home.”

The event will feature staff from both services discussing the controversial characters and events they’ve found most intriguing and how they shaped the history of the Cheshire.

It will be live-streamed via Cheshire West Libraries’ Facebook page
