Runcorn Local Policing Unit, Norton North

February 2020

Crime update –

• On 2nd February a stolen Mitsubishi 4x4 was recovered from the rear of Jays Close, Murdishaw. A forensic examination of the vehicle has been completed by CSI.

• On 20th February at approx. 2pm a bus window has been damage between Murdishaw and Norton, reporting person believes that damage may have been caused by a pellet gun.

Suspicious activity –

• Early on in February we had a couple of reports of suspicious activity in the area of Southampton Way, Murdishaw with males hanging around in various alleyways and bushes in the area. Any info or intel on this can be reported on 101 or via CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

• On 12th February we received a report from a concerned member of the public stating that 4 – 5 males were seen to be walking across the railways tracks at Runcorn East station. Observations were passed to patrol, no trace of the males and no calls from BTP.

ASB/damage –

• On 24th February at 10am we received a call from a resident of Juniper Grove stating that their vehicle, a Peugeot Boxer minibus has had the front windscreen damaged. Caller is making CCTV enquiries with his neighbour and a social media appeal for information has been completed.

Roads Policing –

• Quite a few issues with fallen trees and localized flooding throughout February due to the stormy weather conditions, the council highways agency have been prompt and effective in dealing with these issues.

• Tru-Cam speed enforcement continues to take place on Norton Station Road, Windmill Hill Avenue East and Tower Lane. If speeding is an issue in your area let us know at

• On 9th February 3x parking advisory notices were issued on St Martin’s Lane, Murdishaw due to parking issues at the Church.

• A road traffic collision occurred on 11th February at Chiswick Close Murdishaw, involving 1 vehicle and a 12 year old child who was taken to hospital with suspected concussion.
Community –

• On 10th February community partners and I attended Brookvale Recreation Centre to receive training on the new Bleeding Control packs that are being placed at community buildings around Murdishaw and Brookvale.

• On 19th February at 1pm I attended an estate walkabout in company with partners from Onward Housing and Halton Borough Council to discuss environmental issues around the Ridgeway/Gorsewood area of Murdishaw including litter, graffiti, lighting, footpath access from the busway footpath to Mooring Close. HBC have taken away some actions to complete and Onward have plans in place to make the area feel safer, brighter and a bit more open.
