Scams

Alert message sent 10/02/2020 13:20:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hello Resident,
                        below is a couple of scams you should be aware of;
Loft insulation phone calls
Halton Trading Standards have been made aware of residents receiving unsolicited telephone calls regarding loft insulation. The callers state how they are concerned that the consumer may have loft insulation that causes condensation/damp. The caller then goes onto state how they would like to come out and inspect/survey the consumers property.
Halton Trading Standards believe this is a scam. Residents should be aware of unsolicited telephone calls requesting visits to their properties.
Telephone calls claiming to be from Sky Tv
Residents in Halton have been receiving telephone calls claiming to be from Sky Tv. The caller says the consumer’s security had been compromised. The caller then says the consumer needs to get on their computer immediately.
This is highly likely to be a scam and the next step would be to log in to a particular website, download a programme, give over personal details or all of the above.

Hope this is of use?
Many thanks
Paul
