Scam phone calls from HMRC

Alert message sent 03/10/2019 15:35:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Residents are reminded not to respond to phone calls from persons claiming to be officials of organisations such as HMRC , which are scams .

Phone calls may be received , informing you that HMRC are filing a law suit against you and you need to speak to their case officer .

Another example is a call to say that HMRC have received some suspicious information about you and you will be arrested . It is then suggested that you ring a number to discuss the matter .

Police advise to never respond to this type of call , simply terminate the call and do not use the phone for several minutes to ensure the line has cleared .

If you think you have been a victim of fraud , contact Action Fraud either by phone 0300 123 2040 or online www.actionfraud.police.uk
