News Bulletin

Runcorn Local Policing Unit, Norton North

March 2019

Crime update –

• Theft of motor vehicle, Thursday 21st – Friday 22nd March – Ford KUGA reported stolen from the Petersgate area, later recovered.

• Criminal damage to car, Monday 18th March – Report of a vehicle being keyed on Morton Road. No CCTV or witnesses.

• Criminal damage to vehicle and property, Tuesday 19th March – Overnight into March 19th we received 3 reports of criminal damage, firstly damage to a garden fence on Littlebourne, secondly damage to a vehicle on Exmouth Crescent and finally damage to a fence also on Exmouth Crescent. Named offender, CID dealing.

ASB –

• Nuisance motorbike, Tuesday 26th March – Report at 19:05hrs stating that a black motorcycle with partial VRM of ‘66’ was riding on the pavements near to Murdishaw Community Centre whilst a fun run was taking place. Social media appeal completed, no further details on rider or motorbike involved.

• We have received a number of ASB reported surrounding neighbour disputes that cannot be disclosed for obvious reasons.

Suspicious activity –

• Firearms/weapons, Friday 29th March – At 13:15hrs a report came in stating 12 males were at the subway by Mooring Close, mentions of a firearm and machete during call. PSU, firearms and police helicopter attended, no trace of any males and no further calls.

• Suspicious vehicle, Friday 15th March – Incident reported at 11:40hrs caller stated a strange looking van grey Peugeot van was driving slowly around Farnley Close and has been looking at a house that has been worked on. Caller says the van left towards Windmill Hill Ave East.
Roads Policing –

• On-going parking issues in the areas of Barnfield Ave and Delphield due to work being carried out at Runcorn East train station. A number of advisory notices and FPNs have been issued. Advice has been given to residents and station users directly and via social media.

• Speed enforcement has been continuing on Norton Station Road however the number of activations has dropped over the past months, if you have any other roads of concern please make us aware.

Schools/community events –

• Bike Marking Event, Saturday 16th March – We held a bike marking event at Murdishaw Community centre on the above date. It was a low turnout in the end due to bad weather conditions. We will look at holding another event over the next month or 2 when the weather picks up.

• Gorsewood pre-school talk, Wednesday 20th March – Myself and PCSO McLaughlin held a talk around the roles of the police for the pre-school children at Gorsewood primary. After talking about what the police do we helped the kids try on some surplus police uniform and had a Q&A session.

Wednesday 17th March 17:00 – 18:00hrs
Thursday 25th March 17:00 – 18:00hrs
