News Bulletin
Runcorn Local Policing Unit, Norton North

February 2019
Crime update –
  • On 28/02 a male was issued with a cannabis warning for smoking the class B drug in the Red Brow Lane area of Norton North.
  • On 16/02 a property was entered on Morton Road, no sign of forced entry. Male dressed all in black was disturbed by occupant, nothing was taken.
  • Early hours of 23/02 a front window of a property has been smashed on Portsmouth Place – Suspect identified.
ASB/criminal damage –
  • Off-road bikes continue to plague Norton North and Norton South. The level of intelligence we are receiving about these bikes (potential addresses/riders) has slowed down somewhat making it very difficult to deal with this issue. Any info can be passed to Runcorn.LPU@cheshire.pnn.police.uk quoting Op Scrambler.
Suspicious activity –
  • We received a number of calls throughout February from a resident of Plymouth Close who was reporting that a male knocked on her door asking for an address a few doors down. The same male returned on a number of occasions asking the same thing each time.
  • On 19/02 on Eanleywood Lane caller reporting suspicious activity from her RING doorbell camera, a young male approx. 14 YO tried her door handle at 11:55hrs. No attempt to knock or deliver anything.  5’2”, skinny build, wearing black tracksuit bottoms and top, grey hood under coat.
Roads Policing –
  • A number of reports of loose sheep in the roads over the past week. Red Brow Lane and Barnfield Avenue were affected. The damaged gate has now been repaired.
  • We have received a number of reports via 101 and the social media pages about the ongoing parking issues in the area of Runcorn East train station (due to essential work being carried out at the car park). A number of vehicles have been issued with advisory notices and FPNs. Illegal/dangerous parking will not be tolerated however we are also asking for a bit of patience from local residence as this is a temporary issue, the work currently being done is vital to alleviant the problem in the long run.
Schools/community events –
  • Internet and online safety talk booked in at St Martin’s primary school Monday 4th March with Years 4-6.
  • On 26/02 we held a home security and personaly safety workshop at Murdishaw Community Centre for the Lunch Bunch dementia care group which included a presentation on all of the different ways to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of crime.
  • We will be looking at arranging a bike marking event over the next month, keep an eye on Alert/social media or look out for signage in the community building around Norton North.
Upcoming Police surgeries to be held at Murdishaw Community Centre –
Wednesday 6th March 17:00 – 18:00hrs
Thursday 14th March 17:00 – 18:00hrs
Wednesday 20th March 12:00 – 13:00hrs
