Sports bookings and events in parks and open spaces postponed
19 March 2020Following the latest advice from Public Health England, Chester West and Chester Council is advising activities within parks and open spaces in the borough should be postponed with immediate effect. All current sports bookings will also be cancelled for the time being.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Councillor Karen Shore said: “The Council takes the safety of residents, visitors, friends groups and volunteers very seriously, and it is really important at this time that we ensure we follow Government guidelines in terms of social distancing.
“We’ve postponed several events that were previously planned with volunteers in our parks and open spaces and, after consulting with the football league and FA, all sports bookings will now be cancelled. I hope other groups and associations in the borough will follow this this important guidance too.
“We appreciate these are difficult times, and people can feel isolated, and as per the guidance please ask family, friends and neighbours to support you, and where you can use online services.”
