Deadline reminder for primary school admissions
2 January 2019Cheshire West and Chester Council is reminding parents and carers with children due to start primary school in September 2019 to apply for a place by the 15 January 2019 deadline.
Children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 must apply for a primary school place by the deadline. Applications can be made online by visiting: www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/admissions. Alternatively parents/carers can contact the Council on 0300 123 7039 to obtain a ‘Starting Primary School in September 2019’ booklet which includes a paper application form.
Anyone who applies online will be able to access their account after 12:30am on the national offer day, 16 April 2019, to view their allocated school place. An email will also be sent later in the day to each applicant.
It is important that applications are made by the closing date of 15 January 2019 as any received after this date will be considered late. It is likely that late applicants would be at a disadvantage if their preferred school is oversubscribed with on time applications. For further information about the process of applying for a school place please view the ‘Starting Primary School in September 2019’ booklet online: www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/schoolbooklets.
Councillor Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: “Starting school is an important and exciting stage in your child’s life. There is lots of information available on our website and in our booklet to help guide you through the application process and the team are available to speak to should you have any questions. To ensure that your application is not disadvantaged please make sure that you get your application in by the 15 January 2019 deadline.”
The closing date for the September 2019 Primary to Secondary School Transfer applications has now passed however late applications can still be submitted online at www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/admissions.
