Event to promote award-winning training available for Approved Driving Instructors

7 January 2020

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Road Safety team is promoting a course for Approved Driving Instructors which aims to reduce collisions amongst young and inexperienced drivers.

Local driving instructors can now book onto the Engage Driving Instructor Seminar and join Engage, a scheme between Cheshire and Merseyside Road Safety Partnerships.

The Engage Driving Instructor Seminar will take place on Thursday 27 February 2020, from 8:30am to 4pm at the Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port.
The seminar will provide an opportunity for driving instructors from Cheshire, Merseyside and across the UK, to meet, learn, exchange ideas and experience talks from leading industry and marketing experts including Mike Jones, of the DVSA Enforcement Team and Lynne Barrie, ADI Trainer and ADINJC Chairman.

Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport said: “The Engage programme is an innovative scheme for Approved Driving Instructors working in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East and Wirral Councils, Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service.

“Engage instructors can educate leaner drivers about issues such as fatigue, peer pressure, basic maintenance, drink and drug driving, speed and distraction.  All issues, that by being addressed, can help reduce driving related casualties.“

Tickets for the seminar will cost £50 and this includes the Engage Driving Scheme registration fee for 2020 for both current members and instructors wishing to join on the day.

To book your ticket for this seminar, please visit the Eventbrite website or for more information about this scheme, please visit the Engage website.
