Lord Mayor sends condolences to the people of Vienna
3 NovemberThe Lord Mayor of Chester has sent condolences on behalf of the city to the people of Vienna following the attack last night.
Councillor Mark Williams has written to the Mayor and Governor of Vienna, Herr Michael Ludwig, to express sympathy.
He said: “Can I on behalf of the City of Chester express our deepest sympathy and extend our sincere condolences to all those affected by the heinous attacks that unfolded in your city last night.
“These dreadful orchestrated incidents yesterday were an attack on the values of your country. For the incidents to occur on an evening when people were out enjoying themselves in your beautiful city before your COIVD lockdown is particularly cruel and I hope that all those involved are found quickly.
“Our thoughts are with those who were injured and to the medical teams who are treating their injuries. We sincerely hope that everyone injured makes a full and speedy recovery.
“And finally, our thoughts are with the friends and families of those who were unfortunately caught up in these dreadful incidents. Candles have been lit in Chester Cathedral as a mark of respect.”
